Defending Champs Survive advance to quarterfinals

Michigan needed penalty kicks to defeat Texas today 2-1 (4-3 after 6 PK rounds). They will advance to tonight's quarterfinal round to play UCLA as they defeated Penn State.

In other action, Indiana defeated Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Illinois defeated Boston College, Weber State needed PKs to defeat Colorado State Gold, California-Santa Barbara defeated Vanderbilt, Texas Tech defeated Minnesota and Arizona defeated Ohio State.

You forgot to mention that Michigan stayed in this game thanks to a shameful performance by the referee, who was completely biased in favor of Michigan, awarding them with a non-existent penalty kick in the first half, among other terrible calls.
In my opinion, this referee's performance has brought shame to an otherwise brilliantly organized National tournament, because he allowed personal disagreements with Texas players carry on to his calls on the field. I do not understand why these referees are hired, they are egomaniacs and will not allow for any dialogue with them. Hopefully NIRSA will take this into consideration when they go on to plan their next National Tournament.
